Is Sitting At Work Uncomfortable?

Do you notice that your low back and upper back pain increase throughout the day?

Here are 2 tips for improving your workstation posture:

1) Use a Lumbar Support
While most chairs offer a lumbar support as part of the back rest, many do not provide the required pressure to ensure proper lumbar spine posture.

A rolled up towel can be placed just above the belt line to increase support.

Sit all the way back in your chair
Make sure your feet are flat on the floor, if they cannot reach you may need to use a box or step stool to maintain a supported posture.
Place towel roll above the belt line.

2) Perform Bruegger's Exercise
This exercise promotes stability and helps to relax muscles that tighten due to poor posture and stress.

Sit with your buttocks at the edge of a chair.
Spread your legs apart slightly.
Turn your toes out slightly.
Tilt your pelvis forward and Iift your chest up thus increasing the curve of your lower back to its maximum.
Turn your palms up.
This exercise should be held for 10 seconds and can be performed once every 30 minutes if desired.
