Alexandria Chiropractor Successful in Treating Sciatica Pain

Posted on 2011-12-21 15:07:19

Alexandria sciatica pain.jpgDo you frequently experience numbing and tingling in your legs, especially when the weather is cold? Have you recently fallen or been in an automobile accident that left you with back pain? Have you searched in vain for pain relief without resorting to surgery and potentially hazardous prescription drugs? We can help!

Treating Sciatica Pain

Back, leg and neck pain are often caused by injury to the sciatic nerves, which run from the lower back down each leg. Our clinic uses gentle and safe manipulations to help bring the spine back into alignment, relieving excess pressure on the sciatic nerves and easing your symptoms and your pain. We seek the underlying cause of your pain and discomfort rather than just masking your symptoms with prescription drugs.

At Spine Care Associates of Alexandria, we help patients manage their back and neck pain with a variety of treatments, including traditional chiropractic manipulations like spinal decompression as well as massage therapy to help relax the muscles that support the back and neck and speed your recovery. In addition, we can suggest nutritional changes to your diet that will improve your overall health, as well as little changes you can make in your everyday life, like choosing the right shoes or the correct desk chair that will impact your neck and back pain. We are here to help you recover and manage your symptoms. You don't have to settle for a life of pain.

Our clinic serves patients throughout northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C. area. We are open five days a week and offer early evening hours to help fit into your busy schedule.

Have you recently sought treatment from a chiropractor for your sciatica pain? Was it effective? We invite you to share your experiences with our readers by leaving a comment below.

Alexandria Chiropractic Nutrition Tips

Posted on 2011-11-17 10:04:55

Alexandria chiroprator promotes good nutrition.jpgAt our Alexandria chiropractic clinic, patient care is about more than providing spinal adjustments to patients with neck pain and back pain. Instead, it's about a whole approach to living well. Our chiropractor believes in the body's ability to heal itself from many ailments so long as it is given the necessary tools to do so. That's why when you visit our office you'll receive a full evaluation of your daily sleep, exercise, work and eating habits. We'll then offer you a customized plan for wellness that may include nutritional supplements and diet changes in addition to regular spinal adjustments.

Good nutrition and healthy diet are crucial to wellness. Combining a healthy lifestyle with the care of a chiropractor goes a long way to prevent future health problems and address existing ones. Good nutrition can also make bodily adjustments and other musculoskeletal care more effective. For example, calcium is vital to bone density, and bodies low on calcium may produce brittle bones, which in turn become prone to physical injury or less responsive to chiropractic adjustments.

Nutrition and Pain Relief

While some pain in the body is the result of subluxations and easily relieved with an adjustment, other pains may be caused by more complex problems. In fact, researchers have linked multiple diseases with deficiencies of vital nutrients such as Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids. By improving your nutrition, you may prevent the onset of future diseases and you may experience pain relief from chronic problems associated with poor nutrition.

Ways to improve your nutrition include eating a diet with more lean meats, fruits, vegetables and whole grains, as well as avoiding processed foods. Many people - particularly those suffering from Celiac disease - also report improved health by incorporating a gluten-free diet into their lives. Gluten is a compound found in carbohydrate-containing foods such as bread and pasta.

By removing gluten-containing foods from your diet, you may see improvements in digestion and weight management. However, if you choose to follow a gluten-free diet, it's important to supplement your diet with the nutrients commonly found in gluten-containing foods, such as iron, thiamin, calcium, riboflavin, folate and fiber.

Have your own nutritional habits helped or caused problems for you?

Alexandria Chiropractic: Your Source for Pain Relief and Total Body Wellness

Alexandria chiropractic care for pain relief.jpgAre you suffering from back pain? Whether it's a new injury you are experiencing or a chronic concern, our chiropractic clinic is ready to offer you and your family the latest technology in pain relief. Conveniently located, our Alexandria chiropractic clinic is easily accessed by the greater Kingstowne, Franconia and Ft. Belvoir areas.

How Do Regular Chiropractic Treatments Assist in Managing Pain Relief?

Maybe you were in an accident many years ago and are still experiencing pain. Perhaps you are active military and a new injury is keeping you from performing at your maximum potential. Our chiropractor will develop a comprehensive treatment plan to reflect both the management of your pain relief and your overall wellness needs.

Misalignment and abnormal motion of the spine can create neurological interference which cause injury and pain to occur. This misalignment is often referred to as a subluxation. Chiropractic care manages pain and total body wellness by removing this interference to restore the communication between the central nervous system and the rest of the body.

When the spine realigns, it is essentially re-learning how to communicate with the entire body. Regular chiropractic treatments work by re-establishing the normal alignment and movement of the spine to restore the neurological connection between the brain and the body. Most patients report reduced inflammation, injury recovery and relief of pain with chiropractic re-education of the spine and body.

The frequency and type of treatment will be determined once our chiropractor has evaluated your injury or experience with pain. To achieve our goal of restoring communication and eliminating pain, our chiropractor may combine other modalities to accentuate your regular treatments, such as the incorporation of massage therapy.

Ready to realign your wellness and experience relief from pain?

Alexandria Massage Therapy & Back Pain Relief

Posted on 2011-10-04 10:54:00

Alexandria massage therapy provider.jpgAs an Alexandria massage therapy provider, Spine Care Associates of Alexandria is committed to quality patient care. Among our many chiropractic services, massage is one of the most common back pain relief choices for our patients. It is usually used in conjunction with traditional chiropractor adjustment for increased healing and wellness.

Our chiropractic staff only want the best for our patients. Thus, each of our massage therapists are highly trained and licensed. They also are well educated in injury types and how to incorporate massage to increase wellness and range of motion. In addition, we offer multiple types to meet the needs of our clients. These include Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, sports therapeutic massage and hot stone therapeutic massage.

Why Choose Massage Therapy?

Massage has been used for thousands of years to decrease pain and increase wellness in the human body. While the techniques used by massage therapists today are a bit different, they still incorporate many of the same approaches discovered centuries ago. These core techniques are completely natural and involve no pharmaceutical intervention, making them great for those who are wary of prescribed pain medications.

Many patients have also found that massage greatly complements other treatment options performed at our clinic. Not only does it work well to help combat back and neck pain, massage can also lower blood pressure, minimize stress, decrease anxiety, and increase range of motion. Our massage therapists work directly with our chiropractor, Dr. Connolly, to determine the best pairing of adjustment and massage to meet the individual needs of the person.

Have you personally experienced relief through massage sessions at our clinic?
We'd love to hear about it!

Alexandria, Ft. Belvoir, Kingstowne, and Franconia patients interested in further information on our clinic or scheduling an appointment may call us directly at 703-719-7302.
