Alexandria Chiropractor Uses a Neurological-Based Approach to Pain Management
Welcome to the blog of Alexandria chiropractor Dr. Philip C. Connolly. Here at Spine Care of Alexandria, we understand that chronic pain can be scary and overwhelming, especially when it strikes unexpectedly. When pain prevents you from living a full life, it is time to get help. That is our job. Our Alexandria office has been helping patients in the Franconia, Kingstowne, Springfield, Lorton, Rose Hill, and Ft. Belvoir communities overcome pain for more than twenty years.
Chiropractic Care, Massage Therapy, Nutrition and Pain Relief in Alexandria
Dr. Connolly's non-invasive treatments include chiropractic alignment, spinal manipulative therapy, neurological-based care, myofascial techniques, non-surgical spinal decompression and massage therapy. These natural treatments help our patients find lasting pain relief while also correcting the underlying cause of the pain.
Unlike traditional medical treatments, we do not use prescription painkillers to ‘cover up’ pain or recommend invasive surgery. Our functional and neurological-based treatment approach focuses on the spine’s structure and function. Dr. Connolly’s extensive studies of the spine and the nervous system are the basis of all of our care. For example, many causes of pain, such as a herniated disc, are the result of the skeletal system being improperly aligned. Hands-on spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) not only relieves pain, but also heals the spinal joints to correct the underlying problem. By restoring proper alignment, pressure on the nerves is removed, relieving back pain, neck pain and leg pain.
Our goal with every treatment is to restore a full range of motion and movement to your body, and resolve the underlying problem to prevent future injuries. We believe many patients benefit from a complimentary treatment approach, combining hands-on manipulation with massage therapy and myofascial techniques that promote deep tissue healing. We also offer nutrition counseling services with our Certified Holistic Health Counselor, Amy Andrejewski.
This blog is an opportunity for our chiropractor, Dr. Connolly, to share his experience and wellness tips with you. Did you know that proper nutrition can help your body heal faster after an injury? Or that pain in your legs or arms may actually be the result of a herniated disc in your back?
If you are not familiar with chiropractic care or massage treatments, it’s natural to have questions about how these treatments can help you manage pain. We invite you to post your questions or comments below.
